Today, I went to the Leadership Development Institute, because one of my organizations required it and the other encourage members to attend. I learned about group work and leadership skills. One of the presentations that attend was Public Relation, Image Development, and Branding that was mostly for the audience of the sororities and fraternities. The presenter had implied that the image of our organization and any other organization is important, because it will determine the outcome of people wanting to join the sororities/fraternities. One thing the presenter mention of trying to get all people (including multicultural organizations) involved in the sororities/fraternities is co-partner them in an event or help sponsor the event. Even having the sororities/fraternities attend the multicultural events introduces them to the sororities/fraternities. It gets the organization to be familiar or aware of the sororities/fraternities. Just getting the word of our sorority would make more awareness to the multicultural organization that may be interested to learn more about the sorority that supported them.

Hi Brenda,
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post. The Leadership Development Institute is right--it is very important for fraternity and sorority members to attend multicultural events, not only to gain a better understanding of people from different cultures, but to show people from other cultures that people in fraternities and sororities are open-minded.
I look forward to reading more! Don't forget to post about your search process for your book.
Sincerely,
