I never really had information or presentation on the Miller Center LR&TS OPAC, but I figured we had one due to the fact that my high school had a similar program. My high school had an online search base program to look up books you needed to find in the library. I learned how to narrow my search results for my topics and the use of key words that would narrow down my search. I find it much easier to be able to find the books that I need the most for my project and take away some of the books on the list that I don't need. the advance search also helps me limit my results and find the books I need the most for my use.

The difference with the Miller Center LR&TS OPAC and Great River Regional Library OPAC was that there was a lot more books found with information that was searched. It was giving more information on topic that was search by giving the list not only of books, but also listing the DVDs that relate to the topic being searched. Another reason for more results being more is that it list all the books and DVDs that are from other towns besides St. Cloud. The list of the search was listing all the books and DVDs that libraries had from all the cities within the region. The bridges of narrowing down the search was a little similar than the Miller Center LR&TS OPAC, but harder due to the fact of all findings from a regional area.

  1. Hi Brenda,

It is interesting that you mention DVDs. DVDs in the Miller Center collection are also in our catalog.

There is way to search for books from other MNScu libraries in our catalog. When you do an advanced search in the catalog, under "Library to Search", the search is already preset to SCSU Main Catalog. You can alter your search by changing that setting to "All MNScu Libraries". This will be helpful if you are looking for a particular book that we do not have at SCSU.
